Mackie Universal Audio UAD-1 DSP plugins Cambridge EQ and Dreamverb
Mackie in partnership with Universal Audio, announced two new Powered Plug-ins for the award winning Mackie UAD-1 DSP card, the Cambridge EQ and Dreamverb.
The Cambridge EQ, with its surgical precision, is the perfect complement to the warm, musical Pultec. In addition to its five-band fully parametric EQ, Cambridge features high and low cut filters with a wide variety of filter types and curves, and switchable shelving filters for each EQ band. Cambridge uses complex lattice filters and a special algorithm to achieve a warm analog sound without oversampling. An A/B function allows for quick comparison of two different settings. Cambridge also features a graphic display of the EQ curve, which has "edit handles" for click and drag control of the EQ parameters, plus editable text displays for parameter values.
Dreamverb, Universal Audio's flagship stereo reverb plug-in for the Mackie UAD-1, draws on the unparalleled flexibility of RealVerb Pro. Its intuitive and powerful interface allows you create an acoustic space from a huge list of different materials and room shapes. These acoustic spaces can be customized to great detail by blending or "morphing" different room shapes and surface materials, adjusting the effect of the room materials on the sound space, and even varying the density of the air to simulate different ambient situations.
Dreamverb also features a flexible 5-band active EQ and unique level ramping for the early and late reflections for sounds ranging from ultra-realistic dynamic room simulations to lush reverb effects. And with Universal Audio's proprietary smoothing algorithm, all parameters can be adjusted in real-time with no "zipper-noise"' or audible artifacts.
The Cambridge EQ will be available separately in Q2 2003 from Mackie dealers worldwide at a suggested retail price of $149 and a special price of $89 for current registered users.
DreamVerb will be available as a free download for registered UAD-1 users on the Mackie and Universal Audio websites beginning in Q2 2003.
The Mackie UAD-1 was developed by Universal Audio and is marketed and distributed by Mackie Designs Inc. The Mackie UAD-1 package includes a proprietary high-performance DSP card, which powers a connoisseur collection of audio processors known as Powered Plug-ins. The growing family of Powered Plug-ins currently includes: the 1176LN and Teletronix LA-2A vintage compressors, the Pultec EQ, RealVerb Pro, the Nigel Guitar Processor, and the CS-1 Channel Strip. The CS-1 is comprised of plug-ins developed specifically for the UAD-1, including EQ, compression, delay modulation, and reflection engine modules. Nigel is also a suite of plug-ins, including the Pre-flex amp and speaker cabinet modeler, echo, delay modulation, tremelo, modulation filter, compressor/gate and phasor. As with the CS-1, these components can be used together or separately.
