Ray Gun Software Restores Old Records, Tapes, 2.0 software released
Arboretum Systems is proud to announce the release of Ray Gun 2.0 for DirectX plug-ins, an updated version of the acclaimed Ray Gun noise reduction software. The stand-alone version of Ray Gun remains at 1.3.5 but has been updated.
In Ray Gun-DX 2.0 for Windows DirectX compatible audio applications, the addition of an enhancement module now allows post-noise reduction bass and treble enhancement and stereo separation. Although this module is not yet included in the stand-alone 1.3.5 version which ships with the plug-in, this version has been improved with important bug fixes in the recording functionality and users can now choose the location of temporary files created in recording and processing.
Ray Gun is built especially for cleaning up the sound of scratchy old vinyl, hissy tape and other problem recordings. Ray Gun selectively reduces or removes hiss, hum, crackles, pops and other unwanted audio, while leaving the original signals intact. With the enhancement module of the new DirectX plug-in version of Ray Gun, you can get even more precise results and add depth to your cleaned up sound. Pull out the Ray Gun for fixing staticky telephone recordings, reducing background noise from dialog, even getting rid of pesky “line noise.” Try and make your old recordings sound more stereo-like and experiment on clean sounds for minute to drastic adjustments.
Ray Gun is simple to use: Just point and shoot to zap the noise from any sound file. Ray Gun’s slick black interface makes it fun and easy. There are no confusing dialogs or menu options, just listen to the preview, select the type of noise reduction you want and adjust the amount. Then compensate the lack of high and low ends and spread out your sound using Ray Gun-DX 2.0 from within your DirectX audio applications. Ray Gun is small, simple and packed with devastating technology. Combining sophisticated pop and click detection with complex spectral analysis, downward expansion and notch filtering, Ray Gun operates like the science fiction weapon it was named after.
Ray Gun is the perfect accessory for CD-ROM burners, allowing you to improve the quality of WAV files, prior to creating an audio CD.
Ray Gun runs in real-time on Pentium computers that are 133 MHz or faster with Windows 95/98/2000 or NT 4.0 and a Windows compatible audio input/output card, with 4 MB of free RAM plus 8 MB of hard disk space. Play any audio signal into your sound input, instantly zap the noise from it and enhance it with Ray Gun, while routing the signal back out to your tape deck or other recording device. No file acquisition (and no extra hard drive space) is necessary.
