Steinberg PC and Mac drivers Midex 8
Steinberg´s Midex 8 MIDI interface has long been first choice among those who need absolutely exact MIDI timing within the Steinberg VST-based studio. The Midex 8 allows a timing precision for external MIDI equipment within Cubase VST or Nuendo which was previously only attainable with hardware sequencers.
Steinberg now presents new Midex 8 drivers for the PC and Mac platforms. The PC version of the new driver guarantees secure operation with Windows 98/ME/2000 ? it is also ready for Windows XP. Steinberg is especially proud of the new WDM driver architecture which overcomes the limitations on the maximum number of available MIDI ports previously seen in Windows systems. Only 10 ports were available with Windows 98 and Windows 2000, and up to 32 ports with Windows XP. The new driver offers Midex 8 users up to 64 MIDI input and output ports with Cubase VST or Nuendo.
Another new feature is the multi-client capability. This allows several programs in parallel operation to access the respective ports of the Midex 8. Stand-alone applications like Reaktor and Cubase VST can now be used simultaneously and in combination with remote control devices.
The Midex 8 Mac drivers are now available in version 1.01. Together with the Midex 8, Cubase VST Mac now also offers incomparably accurate timing, which is realizable in this form only with Steinberg´s LTB technology. OMS is used as a communications interface to support other programs. Several Midex 8 units can also be combined to form larger systems.
The latest drivers are included in the Midex 8 package and are also available for free download. Steinberg´s Midex 8 for Mac and PC is available at the suggested retail price of € 449,-
