Platinum OctoPre eight channel mic preamp
NAMM 2002 will see the unveiling of the latest Focusrite® processor, the Platinum OctoPre™. An eight channel Focusrite mic preamp featuring eight pristine Focusrite channels, OctoPre routes directly to any digital audio workstation via analog outputs or a new 24-bit/96 kHz A/D converter. The new OctoPre offers the unique qualities associated with the Focusrite name at an affordable price.
Each OctoPre channel features a revolutionary compressor/limiter circuit, providing a warm-sounding compressor which morphs into a brick wall limiter to avoid those critical overs, ensuring total control over all eight channels.
The mic pres employed in OctoPre are the same as those featured elsewhere in the award winning Focusrite Platinum range. Characterized by a transistor-based Class A design, they utilized the same full-bandwidth philosophy as the legendary Red and ISA mic pres, ensuring detail and clarity without coloration. The first two "super channels" also feature phase reverse, as well as TRS inputs on the front fascia for quick and easy, DI-free connection.
Output from OctoPre can be either analog or digital; choices include 8 balanced analog outputs, or an optional A/D (with 8 AES, S/PDIF and ADAT lightpipe digital outputs.) An external Word Clock input is also provided (BNC connector.) The AES/EBU and S/PDIF format outputs all operate at up to 24-bit/96 kHz, and can run simultaneously with the lightpipe outputs, giving up to 16 channels of digital output at sample rates of 44.1 and 48 kHz at 16-, 20- or 24-bit dithered.
With Class A Focusrite processing and a wide variety of interface options, the Platinum OctoPre is the perfect partner for any Pro Tools system or any other digital audio workstation, making high-quality, multi-channel recording easy. With equal effectiveness, it can be utilized as an instant location recording solution, or as an additional set of mic pres for any analog or digital console or hard disk recorder.
OctoPre will be launched at the January 2002, Winter NAMM show in the Digidesign® booth (#6606, Hall A) alongside a range of Focusrite processors, including the recently launched ISA 220 Session Pack and Trak Master™ units.
