Every pro audio company is making small, powerful, bi-amped nearfield monitors, so you know that JBL's entry in the field is going to be a stone winner. The LSR25P is chock full of clever bits that all add up to that legendary JBL sound.
Let's kick it off with a 5.25 in. woofer with a non-woven carbon fiber composite cone. Add a 1 in. titanium composite diaphragm tweeter with an elliptical oblate spheroidal waveguide. Didn't we hear Scotty say that on Star Trek once? Powering those components is an 80 watt amp for the lows and 40 watts for the highs. Add that together, pilgrims, and that's a whopping 120 watts of power hunkering down in each of these little bulldogs.
They're shielded so you can place them next to video monitors without either the speaker or video going goofy on you. JBL also put the power and volume controls on the front where they should be. There's a built-in high pass filter in case you want to hook up an optional subwoofer for full-blast bassage.
This rig is for MIDI studios, personal recording workstations, keyboard practice, computers, or as a really neat small stereo system when you hook up a CD player to them. They're also great as "small speaker reference monitors," although these might be too good for the job. Most folk's home stereos don't sound this good.
