Roland VS1880HD 24 Bit Digital Studio Workstation
This is it, the big enchilada. Roland's top-of-the line virtual recording studio. 18 tracks of hard-disk recording, with built-in digital mixing and optional effects processing. Hook up the optional CD-burner and you can add CD creation and data archiving to the list. You'll have mastery over 288 virtual tracks, mixing it all with a 28-track, fully-automated digital mixer. Pop in 2 optional effects expansion boards, and you'll have 4 stereo or 8 mono effects to choose from, including Roland's COSM physical modeling, which allows your guitar to sound like any guitar you want (and your bass, microphones, and speakers to do the same). Perhaps your struggling over what onramp you want to take onto the digital audio highway. There's a lot to be said for going the computer/software route in hard-disk recording, but that route, while very cool, can also be very expensive. Roland has sold about a kazillion of the original VS880s and their offspring because they do the job properly, and they don't cost an arm and a leg. But now Roland even throws in Emagic's Logic VS and Liquid Audio's Liquifier Pro software into the box. Hook up your VS1880 to your computer and you've got the large-screen interface and flexibility of computer audio, plus the ease of use, portability, onboard effects, and pro sound quality of the Roland. You don't have to make a choice any more! If you've got a project studio, MIDI studio, music school, or voice-over house, you can use this box. If you're a pro, you can pop this thing in a case and take it on the road with you. If you like to record your band live, check this thing out.
