I have bought the AKAI DPS16 and its alot better than the yamaha AW4416 or the AW4424, I use both of the yamahas at college and I bought the AKAI after advise from my dads friend in the record business and so far it has mad my life easier than the yamaha has for college. . If you want ease of use then buy the AKAI, if you want loads of knob pressing then go for a Yamaha [ but you will pay nearly 3x the price]
This thing is GREAT. It is easy to use, powerful, and reliable
The DPS16 is a superb audio workstation. Excellent sound quality combined with a very user friendly interface (q-link knobs), a very "analogue" feeling.

it,s by far the best recorder for it,s price. it makes the roland vs series sound like toys.
i like the sound quailty, very user freindly
Editing is a brezze the mic pre is nice
I have one with a 20gig drive, I love
The sync on this machine I think this is much better than a tape base system we don`t have to think about setting a clock to sync.The effects are nice We recorded two songs on the dps16 and transfered them to pro tools the engineer thought we laid them in a studio.. I think I want the dps 24
What I don`t like is you can only use 4 effect at a time and that includes compressors, and you can not automate the mix internally but you can automate the mix thur midi. over all I am pleased with this unit.
