Crown improved versions of its popular XLS Series power amplifiers XLS 202 402 and 602
Crown International is rolling out improved versions of its popular XLS Series power amplifiers. Designed with hard-working DJs and musicians in mind, the newly re-engineered XLS 202, 402 and 602 offer compact 2U (instead of 3U) designs, lighter weights, and lower price points than their predecessors.
"To be able to offer XLS in a package that requires less rack space and is lighter, cooler looking, and even more affordable than before is just plain awesome," says Bob Lichty, Crown International market director for MI and recording. "The former XLS models have been rock-solid in terms of reliability and sonic performance and we know the 'NextGen' versions will carry on this trend. We also have the latest XLS models available in all line voltages, so they're ready for export markets as well."
The new two-channel XLS 202, 402, and 602 all combine first-class reliability with a number of notable features. Each model is housed in a rugged, all-steel chassis and employs efficient forced-air fans to prevent excessive thermal buildup. Front panels sport dual, precision-detented level controls, a power switch and four LEDs, which indicate clip for each channel, power, and fault conditions. Rear panel connections include two electronically balanced XLR inputs as well as touch-proof binding post and Speakon outputs.
The new XLS models also employ extensive protection and diagnostics capabilities, including output current limiting, DC protection, circuit breaker, and special thermal protection of the units' transformers.
Like all of Crown's amplifiers, XLS products are backed by the manufacturer's industry-exclusive 'Three-Year, No-Fault, Fully Transferable Warranty'.
Power ratings per channel and suggested US retail pricing on the updated Crown XLS Series are as follows:
XLS 202: 250W at 2 Ohms, 200W at 4 Ohms, 145W at 8 Ohms, $409
XLS 402: 570W at 2 Ohms, 400W at 4 Ohms, 260W at 8 Ohms, $495
XLS 602: 840W at 2 Ohms, 600W at 4 Ohms, 370W at 8 Ohms, $619
