It's cheap but it has a great 6 multi-band comp. 9024 can 'hot-ironing' the mixes very well without pumping effect. I don't find the tube simulator and the exciter sounds good. They're too static for me. The limiter is useless since it has no faster release time than 0. 5ms, I tend to put a limiter after 9024 to perfect out the mastering chain and use a stereo widener to open up some lost of depth.

The Behringer DSP9024 is a very powerfull 6-band device certainly capable of improving most masters, even if they are already sounding o. K. I specially like the way you can change the tonal balance without changing the sound. This has a rather different sound than EQ which alters your sound as well. The DSP9024 is also capable of making small changes in dynamics sound very good. One thing about the ultradyne is not very good thought out: The peak-limiter has a shortest release time of 500 ms, rendering it totally useless for any serious mastering. I compress with the 9024, then use a seperate look-ahead loudness optimizer
