producer/songwriter Steve Morales builds Studio with SSL 9000 K Console MixerWhen superstar producer/songwriter Steve Morales decided to build Icon Sound, a new state-of-the-art studio, the console of choice was the Solid State Logic XL 9000 K Series, the first in southeast Florida. Working with top engineer Fabian Marasciullo on the project, their combined discography literally reads like the Who’s Who of industry superstars with acts from Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera, Enrique Iglesias and Britney Spears to Michael Jackson, J.LO and Clay Aiken. It is so good I can’t even explain it. The 9000 K makes everything sound so much bigger. That’s really the main thing for us, this console is very clean sounding and it makes the tracks big.” One of the features of great interest to Icon is the integration of Pro Tools into the console’s system monitor. “Having Pro Tools right on the console really sold Steve because it made our working mode more concentrated,” Marasciullo explains. “Having to look at a separate monitor for Pro Tools can break the creative flow of a project. With all the information right on the console, we can stay focused on the sweet spot of the sound field and on the project.” The XL 9000 K Series SuperAnalogue Console was designed from the ground up to offer the ultimate analogue recording and mixing experience to meet the demands of high definition, surround sound digital production for DVD-A and SACD product distribution. Based on the HS Control Processor in SSL's successful digital consoles, the K Series Automation Computer provides high-speed control of all automated functions. Complex mixes can be handled with breathtaking speed, while loading and saving projects is also much faster.
