Miking Background Vocals: Microphone and placement
Background vocals are not the same as lead vocals. Now that we have established that we can move on to the part where you as a recording engineer should also not treat the recording of two different things as the same.
Many people record and even mix background and rhythm parts the same as lead parts. This is simply wrong. Although there are some aspects the same, do you really want the background vocals to sound the same as your lead vocals?
