Artists For Literacy uses the language of music to inspire people to read and write.Your songs inspired by literature (SIBLs) are the link between books and those who have difficulty reading them.Close date: April 5, 2004This year, the contest has been modified to work more effectively with the CD/DVD learning tool that SIBL are creating. They are looking for songs inspired by TEN specific books (chosen by students and teachers from around the country). If your SIBL wins, it will be featured on a CD/DVD that will reach thousands of students in high school, college, and throughout the literacy community.If you submit a song that is based on one of the TEN BOOKS list | Bryan Bryant wins John Lennon Songwriting Contest (01/25) Bryan Bryant has won numerous awards for performance and songwriting. His most recent achievement came from the John Lennon's Songwriting Contest. The world's largest and most acclaimed songwriting contest included judges such as Elton John, Enrique Iglesias, James Brown, Luther Vandross, Amy Grant, Carlos Santana, Liza Minelli, Mary J. Blige, plus many more prominent stars. Bryan Bryant was the grand prize winner in the electronic category with his self-produced song "Melting" that was partly recorded in his home studio in Houston and some vocal tracks from studio work he did in Germany earlier this year. Beyond the prestigious award, Bryan also received an EMI publishing deal, $7000 cash, | Song of the Year Contest: Instruments to under privileged schools (/) The official Song of the Year Contest will begin on January, 1 2004. The songwriting contest for up-and-coming songwriters is working along side VH-1's Save the Music Foundation. Song of the Year will be contributing a portion of the proceeds to help provide instruments to under privileged schools. The Song of the Year Contest has brought aboard some elite names as judges. Represented on the judge panel is Rolling Stone Magazine, producers who have worked with everyone from Eric Clapton to Marilyn Mason, Sony and BMG publishing, Reprsie/Warner Brothers, and even some notable Grammy award-winning artists.
