Spectrasonics and Native Instruments Copyright Infringement
Spectrasonics and Native Instruments announced today that they have come to a mutual, out of court agreement to resolve claims of copyright infringement.
A contracted sound designer unintentionally included three copyrighted samples from Spectrasonics’ well-known “Symphony of Voices” choir sample library as oscillator waveforms on the original factory library of the Native Instruments “Absynth 3” software synthesizer. Native Instruments regrets the accidental inclusion of the three Spectrasonics copyrighted samples and has taken steps to adjust its internal sample clearance process accordingly.
Spectrasonics is pleased that upon learning of the error in May of 2005, Native Instruments took immediate action to remove the infringing samples and to create a new Absynth 3 master and production run. The included Spectrasonics samples represented a very small part of the Absynth 3 factory library, and does not affect previous, current or future Absynth owners in any way.
Both companies have a high degree of mutual respect and admiration for each other’s products and share the same goal of producing professional software instruments of the highest standards of excellence.
