After patiently waiting almost two years since its release, I FINALLY bought myself one of these beautiful pieces of artwork! The main reasons I wanted the synth were 1. ) The Phrase-Clip Onboard Sampler, 2. ) Alot of the reviews that I was reading about the CS6x were saying how its preset sounds were perfect for industrial or trance musicians and, 3. ) It has kickass drums. But the REALLY cool thing about this monster-of-a-synth is that it has two expansion slots for Yamaha's PLG plug-in/addon pci boards which either adds new huge sets of sounds or expands the synths functionality. (For example, I am first going to purchase the Vocal Harmony/Vocoder addon card, which allows a plethora of functionality to the aspect of changing an audio input that plugs into the A/D-converting-audio-INs that are on the back of the CS6x. ) After one month I have hardly eevn scratched the surface at learning all the cool new features provided by this yamaha CS6X
This keyboard is an excellent altrnative for anyone who needs a synth you can 'program', as well as real time, intuitive, and hands-on processing. It's almost perfect, because the display isn't the greatest, and it isn't a synth for everyone. But those who like to get their hands wet, and not spend a fortune on such typical 'virtual analog synths' out there, which don't have sampling, this is a great keyboard. It also makes a wonderful studio controller for those who like to use soft-synths! Billy |
