Blu Wave Audio digital audio mastering and restoration facility is fully operationally

Universal Studiosą state-of-the-art Blu Wave Audio digital audio mastering and restoration facility is fully operationally with several mastering suites and a main mixing stage featuring a Harrison SeriesTwelve for Film Digital console as its centerpiece. Blu Wave Audio specializes in digital mastering and film audio restoration, including DVD audio mastering and foreign versions.

Continuing Universal Studiosą long-standing relationship with Harrison, this Digital SeriesTwelve for Film is the fourth Harrison film console to be installed by Universal in its prestigious post-production facilities.

The single operator Harrison SeriesTwelve in the main mixing stage at Blu Wave features 64 channels of full digital processing. All Harrison DSP is 40-bit floating point internal (both processing and interconnects --a Harrison technology exclusive) with 56 channels of PEC/Direct switching. The system includes a 672 x 672 digital router, 32 x 8 monitoring system and 224 I/O sources.

Universal Studios Engineering V.P, Doc Goldstein, commented on the decision to purchase a Harrison SeriesTwelve for Film Digital console:

"We have been very satisfied with the features and reliability of our three existing Harrison MPC consoles, and wanted to continue down that road. Also, the ability to have compatible automation between our rooms is very important to us".

When asked to single-out the most important features of the new digital console, Goldstein added: "Again, compatible automation is essential, but also the ability to save set-ups with mix files and the routing features which make the desk extremely versatile. However - let's not forget to mention superior sound quality."

The stage with the SeriesTwelve Digital recently completed the foreign versions of the hit feature film E.T., The Extra Terrestrial.
