KOTV-6 Tulsa Spirit of Oklahoma to benefit from exclusive Harrison architecture
The first to benefit from this Harrison exclusive, KOTV, Tulsa's channel 6, has purchased the first TVD-SL equipped with built-in video displays. The sleek new, On-Air broadcast console is specifically designed to accommodate up to 21 high-resolution LCD screens in a low-profile frame.
"When I saw the displays at NAB, I knew I had to have them," said Don Dobbs Engineering Director for the Griffin Communications facility. "It just makes sense to place key video sources close to the operator. Besides not having to re-focus their eyes on a distant video monitor wall, it helps center the operatoršs attention on his control surface. For us, it translated into ease of operation. It definitely enhances the TVD-SL experience."
"Although it seems simple, there was a lot of engineering time and effort spent developing the video option on the TVD-SL," explained Tom Semmes, Harrisonšs Broadcast Products Specialist. "Selecting the best possible screens was only the first step. We narrowed our search from dozens of available LCD products, paying particular attention to the quality of the resolution, the brightness and the reliability of the units. After a selection was made, our engineers went to work optimizing the console profile, the placement of the video units in the bridge, and the viewing angle. The result is an integrated system that solves many room layout issues."
Besides eliminating the need for a costly video monitor wall, the small footprint/low profile frame provides an unobstructed forward view. Design issues like room depth, line-of-sight to monitors, and speaker placement are solved. In combination audio-video rooms it's now practical to positioning the audio console at 90 degrees to the video switcher. The meter bridge is the ideal height for monitor speaker placement and can accommodate a mix of video displays as well as standard rack rails for mounting user equipment.
In addition to the built-in video displays, KOTV's console possesses a built-in touchscreen monitor which allows the operator complete virtual control over the entire console.
