TC Electronic now proudly presents the DB-8 TV Transmission Processor - a multi-channel processing platform tailor-made for the broadcast industry. Benefiting from the heritage of the DBMAX, DB-8 TV Transmission Processor is further developed to comply with the specific demands of TV applications now and well into the future. It is Digital Ready and has TV Transmission and Linking features as Loudness Control, Peak Limit, Format Control and Timing Adjustments. Program Manager, Thomas Lund, explains "Based on inputs from broadcasters worldwide we decided to build the DB-8 TV Transmission Processor to solve many of the problems of TV broadcast today, and to meet the challenges of Digital TV and web-cast." DB-8 TV Transmission Processor has four advanced processors onboard plus complex simultaneous routing capabilities. Each processor has up to 8 channels of I/Os. The processor I/Os can be assigned to either of the physical I/Os - plus the Engines can be used as stand-alone or in flexible combinations. The four individual processors can be used as mono, stereo or 5.1 building blocks to control loudness as well as routing and format conditioning, e.g. providing the same basic signal for a number of services. DB-8 TV Transmission Processor is equipped with a palette of algorithms for mono, stereo and multi-channel broadcast applications. It features unique tools such as Loudness Control conforming to US or ISO standards, Multi-band Processing for spectral balancing and clarity, Automatic Gain Control and Peak Limiting, Format down-conversion incl. 90 degree summing up options, Format up-conversion from stereo to 4:2:4 or 5.1 surround, Equalization, Filtering and Delay with on-line update capability. DB-8 TV Transmission Processor is a 2U real-time, networkable audio processor with 4 AES/EBU Inputs and 4 AES/EBU Outputs. It is controlled from a PC or optionally from an ICON remote controller, the latter designed with a large touch screen and six touch sensitive motorized faders built into a high tech metal chassis. PCs and Icons connect to DB-8 TV Transmission Processor mainframe using Ethernet and normal network components. Multiple PCs and multiple mainframes may share the same network.
