Yamaha Student Intermediate Oboes consistency in response, intonation and comfortYamaha Band & Orchestral Division debuted a variety of student and intermediate oboes at Winter NAMM 2004.Designed primarily for use among students and as part of school rental programs, the YOB-241 is perfect for beginners. The oboe features an ABS resin body, making it extremely durable and resistant to temperature change. Additionally, it features silver-plated keys and the Simplified Conservatory system - a refined key mechanism for student use which serves as the basic configuration for all Yamaha student oboes. A replacement for the YOB-211, this new instrument boasts a bore design similar to that of professional models, resulting in improved tone and projection. "The consistency in response, intonation and comfort allow the beginning student to progress to his or her fullest potential," states Kurt Witt, Manager, Wind Instruments. "This oboe provides the durability necessary for beginners, with the advantage of a focused, rich tone similar to that of a professional model." The new YOB-441 series includes three different models: the YOB-441A (ABS resin body), YOB-441 (Grenadilla wood body) and 441P (ABS resin upper joint, remaining Grenadilla wood lower joint and bell). All models feature a Modified Conservatory system and silver-plated nickel keys. The newly designed, highly polished bore is similar to that of professional models, giving the instrument a rich sound with improved projection. The undercut toneholes provide players with a smooth, even response and enhanced intonation. Used by concert bands, orchestral players and soloists, the new oboes will replace the YOB-410, 411 and 411P. "The YOB-441 series are the perfect oboes for the advancing student looking to progress to the next level," says Witt.
