Yamaha introduces custom Grenadilla Wood FlutesThe modern manufacturing know-how that makes today's musical instruments of such fine quality is literally centuries removed from the traditional craftsmanship that gave ancient instruments their character.Yamaha is pleased to introduce a grenadilla wood flute, a truly beautiful instrument with an incredibly rich tone. The wood models are a wonderful addition to Yamaha's custom flute line designed to have the contemporary sound demanded by today's players, yet the traditional look and feel of wood. This flute was designed to deliver the rich, warm, "natural" sound of grenadilla wood and all the carrying power of a silver flute. Now you can project a full spectrum of beautiful tonal colors through the largest concert halls. The YFL-894W and YFL-874W Custom Wood Flutes are a pair of thoroughly modern flutes designed to offer the contemporary sound that today's players demand, but with the traditional look and feel of wood. Yamaha's exclusive Grenadilla seasoning process brings the same quality to the flute body that artists have come to expect from Yamaha clarinets and oboes. "I am very excited about the new Yamaha wood flute! It has extraordinary dynamic range and tone-it adds a whole new palette to the color possibilities of the instrument," says Jeff Khaner, Yamaha flute artist and principal flute with the Philadelphia Orchestra. "I look forward to using it in all types of repertoire, both in the orchestra and on the solo stage."
