Yamaha RM-TVHC Carbon Fiber Tubular Carriers for Marching Percussion
Yamaha Corporation of America, Band & Orchestral Division, will showcase its RM-MB and RM-TVHC Carbon Fiber Tube Carriers by May at Winter NAMM 2006.
Yamaha RM-TVHC
Tested by collegiate and Drum Corps International percussion sections, these carriers are ideal for student and professional drummers, offering them tremendous flexibility and versatility in size variations.
All carriers feature an adjustable, virtually free-floating, May Abdomen Plate.
Made of ultra-light carbon fiber, it provides an unsurpassed strength-to-weight ratio, bears no torque weight from the drum, and inverts, allowing for different body contact point variations. In addition, each carrier has an aircraft aluminum May tubular structure that enables mounting brackets to slide, rotate and lock with ease.
Precision-bent magnesium shoulders provide optimum comfort by using one of the lightest weight materials without sacrificing durability.
The RM-MB “MonoPosto” bass drum carrier offers instantaneous adjustment and positioning of a player’s bass drum without any assistance. The infinite amount of alteration allows precise playing and positioning. An invertible support pad complements any size bass drum, while automatically adjusting to its radius. This offers an extreme range in structural elevation for all height players, regardless of corresponding drum size. With so many options for size and height variations, the carrier greatly minimizes spending for band directors who would normally buy carriers for percussionists of assorted heights on a yearly basis.
A solid unity between the bass drum and carrier is created via the May Lock Nut and Attachment Hook, eliminating any drum movement. MonoPosto hardware and seat support the bass drum and integrate Stadium Hardware ATS technology.
“This new carrier by May truly offers additional flexibility and comfort for bass drum players,” states Troy Wollwage, Marketing Manager, Percussion, Yamaha Band & Orchestral Division. “It offers the ability to unify the drum and player, eliminating any unwanted carrier movement that creates an uncomfortable player position. Kids come in all shapes and sizes, and it is much better to have a carrier that adapts to each young marching percussionist.”
The RM-TVHS “Contour Hinge” carrier features May’s unparalleled Contour Hinge technology, enabling snare drummers and quad players to reduce the carrier to half of its original size for easy transport and product protection.
The snare carrier was designed with May Tubular Technology for unrivaled strength, as well as Compound Hinge Technology to retrofit all current May Tubular carriers. Extreme flexibility and versatility in size variation appeals to every body type, and the individual contour fit was specifically designed to outline both the upper and lower body of the player. A Memory Lock on the J-Rods is also included to expedite assembly time, enabling drummers to set up their equipment in seconds.
“This new design is a long time in coming, as it truly allows each carrier to adapt to the size of each snare drummer or multi-tom player,” states Wollwage. “Any time we can make the drum fit better on the body, the kids will feel better while playing and can then concentrate more on the music rather than on carrying the drum.”
The RM-MPB and the RM-TVHS will be available in February.
